日本のものづくりが世界に豊かさをもたらし続ける未来のために、東京大学は、新たなデザイン拠点づくりをはじめました。 東京大学生産技術研究所の卓越した「ものづくり」基盤のもとに、内外の研究者とクリエーターが集い、 開かれた産学協働拠点を形成し、未来を具現化するデザインプロジェクトの推進と、高いレベルのデザインエンジニアリング教育の実践を目指します。

The Royal College of Art is very excited to co-found the RCA-IIS Tokyo Design Lab with the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS) at the University of Tokyo. The School of Design at the RCA offers unique approaches to design and innovation that complement the outstanding scientific and engineering research from IIS. Together we aim to create more holistic and ground-breaking, real-world innovations to meet some of the strategic global challenges faced by Japan and the world beyond.
We will also create a new diversity of thought and culture, providing a melting pot for the exchange of ideas. This open collaboration will see the next generation of thinkers, researchers and designers working together and with the local community and industry to form deeper networks and understanding of possibilities for the world.
